Salons, Gas Stations,and...Donut Shops?
For anyone who lives in Groves or the Golden Triangle, you know that we have an abundance of hair/nail salons and gas stations. At most corners, you should be able to find at least one of these establishments. Over the past couple of days I have noticed a new trend developing on Twin City Highway...Donut Shops. Last night Jeremy and I were driving home from Target and I noticed a sign for a new donut shop in the parking lot of the old, old K-Mart. My mind automatically thought of the other donut shop that is being built at the corner of Twin City and Hwy 73 (bad location if you ask me, but they didn't). Why do we need two donut shops within a mile of each other? Then in bed last night I was thinking about it and thought of all the places that you can buy donuts in Groves: Bruces Market Basket, Wal-Mart, and the Donut Palace. There are probably more, but I think I have stressed my point. Why do we need two new donut establishments...I mean, isn't our nation fighting obesity as is and the Golden Triangle is going to add two more donut shops to help??? I think this is bizarre and told Jeremy that what we need more of is Fruit Stands...organic, good for you fruit stands or better yet, a farmers market. I would love to go to the farmers market and buy food. It might actually be a lot of work, but it sounds fun in my head. I think now when people ask where I am from I might just tell them...Groves, TX...capital to the most salons, gas stations, and donut shops per square mile. Yes...that sounds wonderful, a lot better than refinery nation.
