For the past two weeks, jeremy and I have had some plumbing issues at our house. At first I didn't think it was bad...I thought the plumbers would come and flush out the pipes and all is well. Much to my dismay that is not how it all turned out...In these two weeks we have been very conscious of toilet flushing and shower taking. I have also not run the dishwasher (which is full) or done any laundry (which is piled up), so these two weeks have definitely taken a toll on our psyche or at least mine...
The plumbers came out two weeks ago to clean out the line and when they pulled the tool out it had mud on it which means there was a break in the line somewhere. OH NO!! was my thought. I also thought that it could mean the break was in the wall and that we would have to demo one of the bathrooms, which we do not have the money for. However, that was not the case either. Upon further investigation they determined the break was probably under a concrete slab that was in the backyard. OH Great!!! was my next response. However, with this diagnosis I tried to look on the bright side...I never really cared for the slab in the backyard...it is just an awkward piece of concrete. So basically the plumbers couldn't do their work until the slab was gone...
So Jeremy made some calls and found someone to do it and by this past saturday the slab was gone. YAY!!! Now our backyard looks bigger and we decided to let grass grow as much as possible and then maybe in the fall we will put down pavers and create a patio. That way if something else goes wrong we can just pick it up and move it.
Ok...so yesterday the plumber came and started to dig and he dug the whole day. He did find the pipe...and then today he found the break. I think he just got done cutting it so he can replace it and hopefully we will be home free by this evening. Over the past two weeks, I have had a lot of thoughts on plumbing:
1) I am super appreciative of modern plumbing...I would not have wanted to live way back when...just think of the smells
2) I would not want to be a plumber...this guy, bless his heart, has had to do a lot of digging. He dug a whole trench before he found what he was looking for
3) Thankful that we know Glenn Brown who owns the plumbing business we are using. It just gives me a piece of mind knowing that he will be fair and honest.
4) This had made me aware of how many times during the day I use water and don't even think about it.
So once our plumbing gets completely fixed we will be a happy couple again. We are happy now, don't get me wrong, but I have been a complete nutcase several times over the past two weeks. Sorry Jeremy...
