I really had good intentions to blog during my stay in the hospital last week, but for some reason our blogs were blocked from the Christus network so it has taken me awhile to get back to the computer.
Asher has arrived...pictures coming soon!! He came last Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 8:19 am. He weighed 8 lbs 10 oz and now he weighs 8 lbs 4 oz.
I guess I will give a quick run down of my time in the hospital and the birth of Asher. I don't want to scare anyone or gross anyone out, but in case you are curious here we go...We went to the hospital on Sunday, Nov. 22 to begin the induction process. Monday my water broke in the evening and labor pains started. I finally got an epidural, but I don't remember what time. Then the pain got better...and then it came back!!! So I had a second epidural...we later found out that the first one came out so that is why it wasn't working. The second one was suppose to work for 8 hours but 3 hours later, I was feeling the pain!! Now it is Tuesday morning...
My doctor called about 6:30 am and was talking to Jeremy and suggested a C-Section because I had labored so long and was not progressing as quickly as she was hoping. She said I could labor for a couple more hours and then push for a couple of hours and by that time I would be completely exhausted. So we made the decision to have a C-Section that was to happen at 7:45, so the nurses quickly got the ball rolling.
I was rolled to the OR and was prepped with general anesthesia which DIDN'T work, so after a period of time they decided to put me completely under. A part of me was relieved because I was going to be out, but the other part of me was sad because that meant that Jeremy was unable to be in the room with me. (But he was able to see Asher as soon as they cut his cord.) After two hours in recovery (i don't remember this) I awoke and was wheeled to my room where I met my newborn son!!!
We were in the hospital until Friday morning. I was so relieved to come home but nervous. Asher is a week old today and I stand amazed at what Jeremy and I have produced!! He is sweet and precious.
I will do my best to keep posting and post pictures as well.
